🚴‍♂️ Free Bike Marking! Kent Police Join Sevenoaks District Council to Launch New East-West Cycle Route – Available! 🚨 : Sat 11 Oct

Dear Resident,

Kent Police are supporting the opening of the Sevenoaks East to West walking, wheeling and cycling route on Saturday 11 October 2025 – a celebration of safer, greener travel across the District.

As part of the launch event, your local officers will be offering free bike marking using BikeRegister, the UK’s national cycle database. This is a great opportunity to protect your high-value bike from theft.

🛡️ What is Bike Marking?

Bike marking involves applying a unique identification code to your bicycle and registering it online with BikeRegister. This helps police trace stolen bikes and acts as a strong deterrent to thieves. It’s quick and free (normally approx £20) if you attend the police marking stand. Recommended for expensive or cherished bikes only.

Location:
Sevenoaks Education Campus – Trinity School, The Weald of Kent and Tunbridge Wells Grammar School for Boys
📍 157 Seal Hollow Road, TN13 3SP

Time:
🕧 12.30pm to 1.45pm – Free cycle repair workshop by The Bike Warehouse, police bike marking, and info stalls
🕐 1.15pm – Opening ceremony with Cllr Margot McArthur
🚴‍♀️ 1.30pm & 2pm – Group bike rides led by Kent Police, ending at Brittains Common

Brittains Common Activities:
🕝 1.45pm to 2.45pm – Free cycling goodie bags (while supplies last) and Batch 18 coffee van (charges apply)

No booking is required to attend the event or access the free bike marking.

Emma/Carlyn - Yes, more than happy to help with the bike marking and also be involved in the cycle itself—either as a support cyclist or assisting with leading if you're in need. I’ll try to rally a few more troops from the office and also look into getting the police bikes serviced so we can use them on the day.
